Caymus
The rich, dark-ruby color of this wine offers a promise of the depth to come. Aromas and flavors of sweet, fully ripe black currants form the "big heart" of this wine, with notes of mocha/chocolate, black cherry, anise and spice interweaving seamlessly, first in the nose and then more explosively in the mouth. The texture is surprisingly velvety and supple for a wine of this extraction and density, attesting to the fine grain of the tannins and the balance of fruit and oak. The finish holds pure and true for long minutes, the impression of ripe fruit lingering to the end.

A fabulous effort, the 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection boasts an inky/purple color to the rim as well as a gloriously exuberant bouquet of creme de cassis, graphite, vanilla, and charcoal. Dense and full-bodied, with fabulous purity, sweet tannin, decent acidity, and perfect equilibrium, this is a great Napa Cabernet Sauvignon to drink now and over the next 15+ years.

Rich yet sleek and concentrated, with tiers of ripe plum, wild berry and black cherry. Shows a touch of spice, sandalwood and nutmeg. The long, detailed aftertaste that keeps introducing new flavors. Best from 2006 through 2014. 8,800 cases made.

Wine Enthusiast
This young wine is fairly tough now, and the fruit is hiding behind the oak and tannins. Like many keepers, it's in a trough, and will go through its ups and downs. Eventually, the cherries and blackberries should emerge, but it doesn't seem like one of the great Special Selections.

Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.
