Dr. Konstantin Frank Old Vines Pinot Noir 2013
|Brand||Dr. Konstantin Frank|
Wine AdvocateThe 2013 Pinot Noir "Old Vines" was aged for 18 months in an 80/20 mixture of French and Hungarian oak (20% new, the rest a mixture of one to four years in age). The winery says, "The Dr. Frank Pinot Noir vines are the second oldest in the United States, planted in 1957." This has classic Pinot Noir flavors, red fruit bursting out all over. Broadly expressive, it becomes tighter and more powerful as it airs out a bit. The fine structure should support the cherry-laced fruit well. It is a super bargain, too, structured as well as flavorful.
