Wine AdvocateBottled at the end of September 2014, the 2013 Pinot Noir Confero apparently has closed down in recent weeks. The vines in the Chehalem Mountains were devastated by rain, although those in the Eola-Amity Hills provided some high-quality fruit. It has a light leafy bouquet that needs to exhibit more fruit and intensity. At the moment it would be overwhelmed by the 2012. The palate shows more promise: a more masculine style of Pinot Noir underpinned with crisp acidity and a slightly grainy mouthfeel. There is a dried blood element emerging toward the finish that I suspect will become more pronounced with bottle age. Hopefully, the aromatics will meliorate with another 12 months in bottle. Fine.
