Ruffino Romitorio di Santedame 2001
Wine SpectatorExtremely dark and concentrated, with coffee, berry and dark chocolate. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a gorgeous finish. Like cashmere. Colorino and Merlot. Now one of the best Toscanas. Best after 2007. 4,165 cases made.
Wine EnthusiastBig, black and textured, but even with all of its guts, color and polish, it isn't very unique, and that's despite the 60% Colorino and 40% Merlot it's made of. Blackberry and plum dominate the muscular palate, while the roasted finish is nice but simple. Very good on its best day.
