Montes Folly 2003
|Region||Chile, Colchagua, Apalta Valley|
Wine SpectatorDense, large-scale wine, with thick layers of blackberry, boysenberry, mocha and espresso flavors supported by lush, powerful tannins. Big, smoky, tarry finish. The oak is dominant now, but the stuffing is certainly here. One for the cellar. Syrah. Best from 2007 through 2011. 1,200 cases made.
Wine EnthusiastSuper dark; almost black like night. This is big-boned New World Syrah from the Apalta Vineyard, and the aromas of violets and cherry are appealing. Big in the mouth, with bracing acidity and a lot of spare tannin. Very chewy and ripe, with vivid fruit. You won't find other wines like this; it's one of a kind. Imported by T.G.I.C. Importers.
