Color: A striking purple, dense but brilliant, greets the eye Aroma: On the nose, emphatic spice aromas, predominantly cinnamon and clove, emerge immediately, with bright redcurrant adding to the complexity and subtle notes of toasty oak further enriching the broad spectrum of aromatics. Taste: A smooth fabric of dense tannins immediately impresses on the palate, and as Mormoreto steadily expands, a firm acidity nicely complements a body that is solid but not over-powerful. Clean, well-delineated aromas are again delightful on the finish, which is quite lengthy.

Wine SpectatorShows complex aromas of currant, Indian spices, blackberry and flowers. Full-bodied, with fabulous tannins that are thick and silky and a long, caressing finish. The palate is also multifaceted, with bright acidity. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best after 2008. 3,500 cases made.

Wine AdvocateThe estate's 2004 Mormoreto is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc aged 24 months in French oak. It offers expressive aromatics and jammy sweet dark fruit with an expansive personality and excellent length, although the tannins are not as refined as I would have hoped in this vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019.
