The Vignerons de Buxy are a co-op of growers in the Cote Chalonnaise, that got together back in the 1930s in order to make more money for their families. They all had small vineyards, but not enough to do much more than make wine for personal consumption, but together, they could turn their garden vineyards into a money making endeavor. Almost 100 years later, and still going strong, this Chardonnay is an amazing value for White Burgundy. It has notes of citrus and honeysuckle on the nose, while crisp and dry on the palate, with flavors of lemon and baked apple. It’s made completely in stainless steel, no oak, so it’s bright and lively. It goes well with salads, clams and oysters, grilled vegetables, fish, roast chicken and pork. Sustainably produced.
